BBC4’s 1973 week

Life_mars Probably more of an ad hoc decision based on the channel repeating the entire series of Life On Mars, BBC4 has announced it is hosting a 1973 week from Saturday 1st April – Friday 7th April.

On top of the nightly repeats of Life On Mars (man goes back in time to 1973, but keeps his 2006 haircut), there’s a classic Doctor Who tale (Green Death), a week of concerts, including The Kinks, The Eagles and Elton John, Neil Diamond and Cat Stevens, the best chat show guests of the year, Frederick Forsyth Night, politics of the day and the best of the year’s TV.

And there’s films, including Get Carter (wasn’t that 1971?) and Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture.

Incidentally, a new series of Life On Mars is being filmed from next month in Manchester, which should make it to our screens in the second half of this year.
