Pop art’s a term thrown about a bit casually these days, but in truth, it is a term that does actually cover quite a wide spectrum. First coined in the 1950s in the UK as a reference to art using "popular culture", it’s now more associated with some of its biggest US exponents of the 60s, like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
And you can see the Lichtenstein influence in these pop art coffee mugs. Not by the man himself, these are by illustrator Ivan Allen, probably as a homage to Lichtenstein. They’re certainly well done, with cartoons and captions based on the subject matter in hand – coffee.
Three designs available – they retail for around £8 each.
