If you want to brush up on – or introduce yourself to – some of the great architectures or architectural movements, Taschen has a series of books coming out, available for less than a fiver. Each title in the Basic Architecture series features around 120 images, introductory essays, background, collaborations and features on the most important works in chronological order, along with a list of selected further reading.
First on the market is Bauhaus. You can find out about the Bauhaus School’s revolutionary approach, fusing fine art with craftsmanship and engineering in everything from architecture to furniture and typography. Originally headed by Walter Gropius, the Bauhaus counted among its members people like Paul Klee, Lyonel Feininger, Wassily Kandinsky, László Moholy-Nagy, and Marcel Breuer, changing the faces of art, architecture, and industrial design forever in its 14 year existence.
The book is authored by Magdalena Droste and is available to order now, priced at just £4.99. Watch out for more titles to follow in the series.
