"Eric blown to smithereens, Colin carved up, a bomb in my casino and you say nothing’s unusual!"
Arguably, one of the finest Brit crime movies of all time, The Long Good Friday is 25 years old – and to celebrate, Anchor Bay are releasing a special edition 2-DVD set of the movie.
Very much a film of the times, Harold Shand (Bob Hoskins) is a London property tycoon/gangster, about to close a lucrative new deal to develop London’s Docklands with the assistance of two shady Americans. Just as the deal is announced, news comes through that his sidekick, Colin has been stabbed in a swimming pool. Over the course of the Easter weekend, it becomes clear that Colin’s death was just the start of Harold’s problems – and Harold wants revenge.
If the film itself isn’t enough, a considerable number of special features are on the new edition. These include an audio Commentary with Director John Mackenzie, Bloody Business: Making The Long Good Friday, an interview with Director John Mackenzie & Actor Bob Hoskins, UK and US theatrical trailers, a Cockney Slang Glossary, poster and stills gallery, biographies, film notes and the screenplay on a DVD-ROM.
The Long Good Friday – Special Edition is released on 18th September in the UK.
