I’m not saying there was a drink problem in the old Soviet Union – they are – and to encourage people not to spend their hard-earned cash on bottles of vodka, the government ran extensive poster campaigns to keep everyone on the straight and narrow.
And looking back, these Soviet anti-alcohol posters were actually very stylish items. The best are featured online on a website called The Museum Of Anti-Alcohol Posters. The two posters here are typical examples – strange design and cryptic slogans (the above two say "without words" and "rich inner substance").
They’re not selling the posters, but might be something to look out for at auction or on eBay.
