Arne Jacobsen Grand Prix chair

Grandprix
You may have heard of the Arne Jacobsen Ant chair, but this month his lesser known, but equally stylish Grand Prix chair is making a come back in limited numbers.

Designed in 1955, the chair is named after the Grand Prix prize it won at the XIth Triennale in 1957. The original versions had wooden legs, but this re-issued version by original manufacturers Fritz Hansen, has chrome legs in either polished or satin finish.  The laminated main body of the chair is black, the only colour available for this edition.

The shape of the chair is based on a geometric shape, with the two arms of the plywood back each supporting a shoulder blade.

It’s available now from £195, which might sound expensive, but once more, you are investing in a design classic – and one very few will have.
