Celia Birtwell for Topshop - new collection
We love it when high street chains get big name designers to produce ranges for them, as you can get designer fashion at high street prices. It is even better when it is a great retro designer.
A muse for David Hockney (she is Mrs Clark in his portrait of Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy), Celia Birtwell is best known for producing the romantic textiles that were used for her husband Ossie Clark's dresses during the late 60s and early 70s. The pair met in the Cona Coffee Bar in Manchester, while they were both studying at Salford School of Art.
Her latest range for Topshop is out on Monday, and uses seven classic archive prints on a range of dresses and blouses, in satin, georgette, and jersey, priced between £32 and £75. Like all the recent high street designer ranges they are hard to get hold of, and her previous collection sold out within hours at most stores.
This time however, you can also buy the collection online, and if you are really keen you can visit the new and improved Topshop website, in the early hours of Monday morning to get first pick. That has to be better than queuing, and fighting over the range in the shops.
