A great opportunity to relive your childhood and catch some classic TV at London’s BFI with Rupert Bear Night.
It’s held at the NFT1 from 6.15pm on Wednesday 19th March 2008, hosted by the Flipside crew. As part of the event, there will be two previously lost but recently recovered colour episodes of Gerry Anderson collaborator Mary Turner’s splendidly strange 1970s puppet series The Adventures Of Rupert Bear (ITC 1970-1977), and Terry Jones’ 1982 documentary, The Rupert Bear Story (C4 1982), along with some rare BBC footage of Terry in conversation with legendary Rupert illustrator, Alfred Bestall. Add to that some Rupert-related vintage comedy clips from The Likely Lads and The Two Ronnies and you have a choice night out.
The night is Introduced by Vic Pratt and Will Fowler, who will be joined by very special guests Mary Turner, creator and director of the Rupert puppet series, and by writer, filmmaker and Python Terry Jones, for a Q&A after the show. Tickets are £8.60 (£6.25 Concessions) and check trousers are optional.
