Sergio Rodrigues Poltrona Mole Chair

Mole

Designs from Europe and in particular Scandinavia tend to dominate this site at times and that can’t be helped as those places have produced some amazing designs. But for a change, here is a piece of retro design from Brazil.

Sergio Rodrigues is considered to be one of the founding fathers of Brazilian design and the Poltrona Mole is his most famous creation. Meaning “soft armchair”, it was originally designed in 1957, but with a few changes it won 1st Prize at the IV Concorso Internazionale del Mobile in Cantu, Italy in 1961.

The Poltrona Mole is available to order online from Brazilia Interiors, although no price is given.

For more of the same with a contemporary twist, check out our newly-launched Switched On Set website
