Star

The George Nelson clock designs have inspired many other designers in the modern era, but like all great designs, the originals are always the best. Like this Vitra Star Clock.

Nelson designed the Star back in 1955, making it a remarkable 55 years old this year. Talk about timeless. For your money, you get those shooting arms for the hour markers, along with a contrast face and chunky hands, the whole thing made of lacquered wood and metal, with a high-grade quartz clockwork keeping things ticking over.

The diameter is around 610mm and the all-important price is just over £239.
