Dors

At the height of her career, she was the British equivalent of Marilyn Monroe (see Yield To The Night for example) and she had a car to match that profile – a 1949 Delahaye Type 175 Roadster by French manufacturer Saoutchik – which is available to buy at auction.

It's a stunning, futuristic car, one of only 51 made and owned by Dors when she was just 17 and unable to drive. At the time, it sold for an eye-watering £5,000, but that's now looking a fairly decent investment.

A private owner picked up the car and has restored all of its original features, from a transparent steering wheel and bird motifs on the inside of the doors to the 4.5-litre, 165 brake horsepower engine that powers the 20ft vehicle.

The car goes up for sale via RM auctions on August 14th, with an estimate of between $4 million and $6 million. If you've got that kind of money and a very big garage, you'll need to get yourself to California to get your bid in.
