If the weather holds and you like messing about by the river – and wearing vintage clobber – the Thames Revival could be for you.
Taking place this weekend, the 11th and 12th September 2010, the Thames Revival is an annual celebration of vintage glamour, classic boats and the golden days of sailing, which means beautifully restored classic boats, stylish vintage dress and much more besides.
There will be over fifty classic boats, including vintage Oyster Smacks, Thames Barges, Oxford and Cambridge boats and Classic Yachts, all manned by sailors in the appropriate costume, mingling with anyone who fancies heading down, ideally decked out in your finest vintage gear.
If you do turn up, you'll be treated to the vintage sites, as well as the sound of live swing and jazz bands, boat-themed activities, plus plenty of food and drink (including Bourne & Hollingsworth's signature classic cocktails).
It takes place in St Katharine Docks in the shadow of Tower Bridge in the capital. More details at the website.
