If you happen to a local of Manchester or fancy a trip there sometime soon, you can find out about the city's musical heritage with Manchester Musical History Tour by Phill Gatenby and Craig Gill.

Not an obvious choice, not least because much of the 'heritage' has been flattened over time. But there's plenty there if you look closely. This particular book claims to show you all the key venues and clubs of the city's past, as well as other locations connected to acts over the last 50 years. So expect the Twisted Wheel venues for example, but  more likely, expect a heavy focus on the last 30 years – lots of Smiths, New Order, Joy Division and acid house you would imagine.

Filling 160 pages, the book is available to pre-order now, priced at £5.96 and out on 1st December 2010.
