Vintage at Goodwood becomes Vintage in London for 2011

Hem

The first event went down reasonably well - well enough for a return event. However, Vintage at Goodwood will no longer be at Goodwood, instead it will be Vintage in London.

It takes place over the weekend of the 29th, 30th and 31st July over a 21-acre section of the Embankment, including The Royal Festival Hall, The Hayward Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and The British Film Institute, plus the shops, restaurants and bars. The Thames Embankment itself will be 'transformed into a Vintage Wonderland' too.

According to the initial press release, all the clubs, bands, fashion, art, design, film, shopping, retailers, dancing and workshops of the original event will be re-created, along with some new editions covering everything from the 1920s to the '80s - warehouse parties and the Blitz Club look to be new additions, along with a recreation of the Wigan Casino. Film buffs should have a good time too, with the BFI putting on a programme featuring the best of 20th century cinema.

Full line-up details will be available nearer the time, but you can pre-register now for news and updates about the event at the website. And book your budget hotel early.

So disappointed that Vintage isn't at Goodwood again this year.. half the joy of it was the festival's beautiful surroundings to lie and slurp a iced G&T in, what a missed opportunity......London Vintage? Ram-packed? No thanks.

Humbersue

Disappointed too to learn Vintage not happening at Goodwood this year, whyever not?! Aren't there already enough festivals for the 'younger' population, this one surely is meant for the original 60's fans! Won't be going to London for it - it will be just be so busy! busy! busy!

Had a fab 3 days at Goodwood Aug 2010. Perfect site, pls do it again - just turn the volume down so as not to upset nearby villagers. Organization and traffic management perfect. Cannot possibly repeat on the Southbank.

Typical idiot

I was so informed about this. Thanks for sharing this valuable information.
