Midcentury

You see a few old sewing boxes on eBay, but this 1960s midcentury-style sewing or storage box does have a really stylish look.

1960s is a guess, it might well be a late '50s design, but you get the idea. The lids and drawers are made of wood and plywood finished with blond oak laminate. The box itself comprises  of a main bottom compartment divided in two, two middle and two top drawers opening on the side. The top drawers have been divided into three small compartments each. All the drawers have white plastic button handles, with a central oak handle on the top. Those angled legs give an unmistakably midcentury look.

It's described as being in 'fair' condition. The white button handle on the right middle drawer has been repaired and stuck back to the drawer. There are glue marks and a large chip in the laminate underneath the handle. The top of the sewing box also has age-related scratches and marks. The large central handle also has scratches and marks. But according to the seller, 'these do not interfere with the overall look of the piece' and the box is 'structurally sound'.

A couple of bids already on this, but the price is still a reasonable £36.
