The new Vokswagen Beetle has just hit the shelves, but an altogether more interesting version of the car is said to be launching at the end of 2012 – retro-themed editions of the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible.

The new VW Convertible is said to be launching in the latter part of 2012 and is said to be based on the E-Bugster concept car featured here. However, inside sources have hinted at vintage-styled editions of the car at launch, based on past decades.

VW has plans to launch a fifties, sixties and seventies variation of the car in Europe, each said to feature bespoke body and interior colours, plus retro detailing, right down to whitewall tyres.

Liking the sound of that – just a shame that the cars will miss this summer really. If you want to see more of the new standard Beetle, check out the Volkswagen website http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/#/new/beetle-nf/.
