A week at WowHaus: Retro properties you might have missed

Wow1

Another busy week at Wowhaus, which included a number of retro homes. If you missed them, here's the pick of the week.

Eric Ambrose-designed 1950s midcentury Gateway House in Worplesdon, Guildford, Surrey

A midcentury classic, this place has been significantly updated over the years, but still retains the original shape, albeit with a very modern interior. It's just been discounted too - but is still a pricey property.

Wow2

Armand Pellier-designed 1960s modernist property in Nimes, southern France

Modernism, 1960s style, with this modernist gem also offering a pool and separate accommodation for staff. Yes, it's that kind of place. Updated, but still true to the architect's vision.

Wow3

1960s Sten Samuelson-designed modernist villa in Pontoise, near Paris, France

More '60s modernism in France, this time by a Swedish architect, who produced a stunning house that is largely unchanged over 50+ years. Some amazing interior fittings.

Richard Neutra and Paul Hoag-designed modernist triplex in Beachwood Canyon, Los Angeles, USA

Three properties for…well, we're not sure it's the price of one. Two modernist additions have been added to the original build, with the Richard Neutra addition one of his earliest works. The end result is pretty stunning.

Wow5

1960s four-bedroom property in Barnsley, South Yorkshire

It needs work, but for something distinctive, this place in Barnsley looks good value. Ok, you'll need to look at the windows and the decor, but with a price for a quick sale, it could be a bargain.

Wow6

1960s Pierre Lajus-designed four-bedroom modernist property in Andernos-les-Bains, Aquitaine, south west France

As you might have guessed, France has been rich picking this week, with this place inspired by the likes of Richard Neutra and Frank Lloyd Wright and still with quirky features likes moveable weal panels. A midcentury gem.

Wow7

1960s Austin Vernon & Partners-designed three-bedroom townhouse on the Dulwich Estate, London SE19

If you want finished, a London location and minimal fuss, this place on Giles Coppice offers all of that and more. Not exactly cheap for what it is, but it is a walk-in place with no work required.
