World Labels Louis Vuitton

The world of vintage travel revealed in World Tour: Vintage Hotel Labels from the Collection of Gaston-Louis Vuitton are likely to turn you green with envy. If you can cope, this book is a fascinating insight into the lost glamour of travel.

Gaston-Louis Vuitton is the grandson of Louis Vuitton and, appropriately enough for a company which made its name by its luggage, collected travel labels. Over a thousand labels have been gathered together for this book, dating from the early twentieth century through to the 1950s. Travel writer Francisca Matteoli has grouped the labels around 21 different destinations which reveal something of the delights of leisured society as it once was. Try the French Riveria, Chaminox, Honolulu and legendary hotels like Raffles for starters. Whether it'll be induce more inspiration than envy remains to be seen.

For its 512 pages, the book is selling for a very reasonable £22.40 on Amazon.
