The week at WowHaus: Retro properties for sale you might have missed

Wow1

While not every house on WowHaus is a retro home, we've found quite a lot of 20th century properties in the last week or so – too many to flag up here. So we've picked out our favourites below and if you want to see the rest, check out the site.

1950s Fello Atkinson and Brenda Walker-designed midcentury modern property in Leicester, Leicestershire

A listed property on the outskirts of Leicester and not only that, the house known as Goddard House has been maintained in its Bauhaus style for decades, making this quite a desirable place for the midcentury obsessive.

Peter Aldington-designed 1960s modernist property in Bessacarr, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Another preserved property and another listed by English Heritage. In south Yorkshire, you'll find a single-storey house and open plan living that's hardly been touched for over 45 years. It's also perhaps the best value midcentury modern property in the country too.

1960s Richard Neutra-designed modernist property in Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

Richard Neutra designs are rare in Europe, even rarer to be offered for sale. This one looks like it could have been built yesterday, but dates back to 1967. Open plan living at its finest.

1960s Eric Lyons-designed three-bedroom Span House in New Ash Green, Longfield, Kent

I'm loathe to call any house price cheap, so we'll say this Span House is one of the more affordable examples.

It needs work, perhaps needs some modernist character putting back in, but it is priced well and comes with all the little communal touches you expect of a Span House.

1950s Eduard Ludwig-designed modernist property in Berlin, Germany

Built for an architecture competition in the 1950s and found in a protected area amongst the work of other famous architects, this single-storey house was given a complete makeover recently, taking it back to its period glory. The results are stunning.

Four-bedroom 1960s modernist property in Waalre, near Eindhoven, Holland

Anther stunner from Europe, this one looks like it has 'landed' in a huge field. Open spaces, balconies, large windows, this is '60s living at its best.

The First Sun House – 1930s Connell and Ward-designed modernist property in Amersham, Buckinghamshire

One of a group of iconic modernist houses in Amersham (which also includes High and Over and The Third Sun House), this place keeps the modernist look and feel, but updates some of the living space for the modern era.

1960s three-bedroom midcentury modern property in Sacramento, California, USA

Midcentury US living as you imagine it – angled wood ceilings, open plan spaces, fitted furniture and large windows as a canvas. Mixed with some modern features and separate guest space, this is a real winner.
