We're trying to avoid using the obvious 'Guzzini' word, not least because this isn't by that company. But this large 1970s Italian mushroom-style floor light is certainly in that area.

It's a bold statement, that's for sure, Possibly from the 1960s, but moor likely from the '70s, it is an 'arc' light with a large, heavy white marble base, brass effect adjustable arm and a huge acrylic, graduated mushroom shaped and coloured shade.

The height and length of the lamp is adjusted by sliding the top arch up and down along two tracks, while the marble is thick and crevassed, with the two slabs connected by three 'ebonised' metal rods held in place by big screw bolts.

The marble base apparently has chips but these are 'barely noticeable due to the rugged nature of this marble'. There is a foot switch which doesn't work, but the lamp can be switched on and off from the wall. The shade does have a crack in it that has been fixed with glue (see picture on the listing) but this can be concealed by facing the crack to the back. According to the seller, none of this detracts from the beauty of this lamp.

Price? it is at £51 right now.
