Spheretable

I've lost count of the number of times we've said of a product that it is new, but looks like it belongs to another period – but it definitely applies to the Vitra Sphere Table.

Designed by Hella Jongerius, the table was created as part of the redesign of the North Delegates Lounge at the United Nations headquarters in New York. It combines a solid wood table with a large dome-shaped 'bubble' made of opalescent acrylic glass. The table has the simplicity of Scandinavian and midcentury design, whilst the bubble is pure 1960s space-age fun. The bubble is available in a choice of blue or yellow, described as sky and sun respectively. It can be attached to either the left or right-hand side of the table and creates a private sheltered working space – or just a really cool looking desk.

It costs £2,225 (you weren't expecting this to be cheaper, were you?) and is available from Nest.
