Yes, that's right, you can own your very own London record shop, as On The Beat in Soho, London W1 is up for sale on eBay right now.
The sales pitch on eBay describes this as a 'unique and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity' to live the 'High Fidelity' life and run a record shop.
It goes on:
If you're at the stage in your life when you don't have to worry about making money but can live the bohemian life, meet interesting people every day and the occasional pop or rock star, here's your chance to take over the oldest record shop in the centre of Swinging London. It's been there for five decades, right in Soho and just around the corner from Tin Pan Alley. A vinyl treasure trove with a pulsing, groovin' history steeped in its very walls. You can make history and take it over!'
The final lines are slightly less upbeat:
'Without someone buying it, it will disappear. If you're mad about music, love vinyl and want to keep the dream alive, here's your chance to take on an Aladdin's Cave of musical gems.'
So buy it or it disappears. That's the message. For some (including us), it would be a dream to sit amongst all that music and memorabilia, chatting to all and sundry about anything music-related. Well, almost anything. But in truth, this is unlikely to be a goldmine, probably more a labour of love.
You will find the store at On The Beat Collectors Records and Memorabilia, 22 Hanway Street, London W1 T1UQ, but you can bid for it online. The store is on a 'Buy It Now' of £300,000, but you can put in a cheaper offer too if you like.
Go on, you know you want to.
