Ikea’s 1950s Lovbacken side table now available in coffee table form

It was originally called the Lovet but landed as the Lovbacken side table, a reissue of a 1956 design from Ikea. it now looks to have multiplied too, as the Lovbacken from Ikea is also available as two coffee tables too.


Yes, like buses, you wait for one cool Ikea design and three come along in this one week. The Lovbacken was Ikea's first toe in the water of reissues, a headline-making, leaf-shaped side table that dated back to 1956.

It got the headlines and we suspect, it got the sales too – enough to convince Ikea to produce two coffee tables to match. The one above looks to have kept the distinctive leaf shape, while the one below goes down the circular route.

They would look great together (with the original side table) and as it’s Ikea, that is in the realms of affordability. The coffee tables retail for £60 each, with the original side table still available for £40.
