Sadly it doesn’t come soon enough for Christmas, but you can now pre-order House & Garden Sixties House – Interiors, design & style from the 1960s, curated by Catriona Gray.

This is the second book of the Decades of Design series, the first being House & Garden Fifties House, which arrived back in 2014. Presumably there is a 1970s book on the drawing board too, but for now let’s focus on the book based in the swinging sixties.

It is a 224-page volume published by Conran and using the wonderful archive of House & Garden to examine the interior design trends of this particular decade.

Catriona Gray does that with the pick of the illustrations and photographs to show how the use of colour, pattern, homewares and furniture evolved through the decade. The book also shows the homes of ‘key tastemakers’ from the peace too, including Bridget Riley, Mary Quant, David Mlinaric, Barbara Hulanicki (Biba) and David Bailey.

Essentially if you love the decade, you really will need to secure this. Sadly, you can’t get your hands on one until March 2016, but you can pre-order now. That will cost you £30 for the hardback.
