It isn’t cheap, but this 1960s Dansette Hifi Mk1 record player on eBay looks amazing.
According to the listing, this Dansette, as you might have guessed, has had a ‘substantial cosmetic, mechanical and electrical restoration’. That has turned this old player into something that looks, from the photos, like something new.
That is down to a cosmetic upgrade, which has has seen the covering replaced and brass fittings updated, the front grille cloth swapped. But beyond that, the Garrard deck has been fully stripped and reassembled, with a BST TC8S stereo crystal cartridge fitted, while the valve amplifier has been serviced and the cabling upgraded for the modern era.
