Win a Giant Anglepoise 1227 lamp

Giant_anglepoise

Anglepoise just dropped us a line saying that it is giving away a Giant Anglepoise 1227 lamp in vermillion (aka orange). So we thought we'd mention it on the site so you can get your name in the draw if you fancy one.

We featured this way back in 2007, when it was produced for the 70th anniversary of the original 1227. It's three times as large as an original, complete with wheels for moving around and an attention to details that only comes from handmade design.

They retail for a whopping £1,660, but Anglepoise is offering one out to coincide with the launch of its new website in August. Basically, if you sign up to its mailing list, you get in the draw to win it, with the winner being picked ' out of a barrel' at the start of October. To get your name in the frame, see below.

Win I'm The One (21st Century Mods) by Horst A. Friedrichs

Horst

We have five copies of a new book that looks at the modern-day mod scene to give away - I'm The One (21st Century Mods) by Horst A. Friedrichs.

The book is published on 31st August 2009, the work of award-winning photographer Horst A. Friedrichs, who has spent more than a decade recording the modern-day British mod community, travelling all over the UK, attending allnighters, weekenders and scooter cruises to take his snaps, of which 70 colour and 70 black and white feature, complete with 'real-life descriptions' of what contemporary modernism means to each of the people captured. There are also some additional words from the likes of Pete Townshend and Paolo Hewitt.

It's available to pre-order right now from Amazon for around £15, but you can win one of five copies through us. Just enter the competition (which is appropriately hosted on our Modculture site) via the link below to get your name in the draw. Good luck!

Win tickets to the Mini United festival

Miniunited

We don't usually post anything on a Sunday, but we have a competition running for just one week - to win five pairs of tickets to the Mini United festival.

It takes place at Silverstone from 22nd to 24th May 2009, with music from the likes of Paul Weller, Twisted Wheel and Calvin Harris, along with a long list of Mini-related fun. That includes the chance to drive your own Mini around Silverstone (or as a passenger in the Mini Challenge race), classic Mini racing, plenty of exhibitions, stunt shows, go-kart racing, driver training and if you like, a tour of the Mini factory at nearby Oxford. Loads of other Minis old and new too, which goes without saying and much more more. Visit http://www.miniunited.com for the full breakdown.

Tickets are £35 in advance, with plenty of space (for up to 10,000) to camp on site too. But if you want a pair of tickets free, we have five pairs to give away (along with some bits and pieces of Mini memorabilia, which might come in handy during the day). Follow the link below to enter - we'll draw the winners on Sunday 17th May, leaving plenty of time to get the tickets to you.
