Sir Peter Blake: Twenty Years of Printmaking in Harrogate

Blake

A regular around the capital, Sir Peter Blake is seen much less 'up north'. So the Sir Peter Blake Twenty Years of Printmaking exhibition in Harrogate, Yorkshire is well worth an entry in your diary if that's where you live.

It takes place at the RedHouse Originals Gallery, 15 Cheltenham Mount, Harrogate from 12th March – 10th April, with previews on Friday 11th March. Sir Peter will be there for that to open the exhibition, as will the double decker CCA Art Bus with Blake exterior. There will also be the unveiling of a new portrait and print edition called Boogie For Stu, featuring Ian Stewart, the legendary keyboardist and co-founder of The Rolling Stones.

This is Tomorrow tea towel

This is Tomorrow tea towel

We've already highlighted the reprint of the 1956 This is Tomorrow exhibition catalogue, re-printed to accompany a new display about the exhibition that's on at the Whitechapel gallery. That exhibition is frequently held up as the beginning of British Pop Art. What better way to mark the impact of Pop Art onto everyday life than buying this accompanying This is Tomorrow tea towel

The tea towel reproduces some simple black and white artwork from the original exhibition. Couple that up with the distinctive 'This is Tomorrow' typography and you've got a striking piece of design. Fans of art and cooking will also be pleased to hear that an apron, again reproducing work from the show, is also available.

The tea towel costs £18.

eBay watch: 1970s Bridget Riley op art catalogue

Riley1

A really excellent publication dating back to 1971 – this Bridget Riley Paintings and Drawings 1951-71 catalogue.

The exhibition in question was at the Hayward Gallery, with that impressive cover and as you'll see over the page, some amazing illustrations from the show.

It's a softback catalogue that's described as being in 'fair' condition, with some cover wear and a gallery address written neatly on back cover. Despite all that, it's a great reference guide for the artist's work and worth the £10 asking price.

eBay watch: Le Corbusier 1959 Liverpool exhibition catalogue

Corbusier

I'll be honest, I was going to keep this quiet and bid myself on it, but the temptation to share this Le Corbusier 1959 Liverpool exhibition catalogue is too much.

It's a fascinating object. According to the seller, an exhibition of the work of the modernist architect and designer (also known as Charles-Édouard Jeanneret) was held in 1959 at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and the Building Centre in London, with this being the illustrated catalogue produced for it, featuring the architecture, paintings, sculpture and tapestries that were featured way back then.

120 pages in A5 format, it's described as being in 'fair used' condition, but there are no tears, marks or missing pages. £4.99 seems like something of a steal if you have an interest in the designer or the city.

Or Glory 21st Century Rockers book by Horst A. Friedrichs

Glory

Not content with capturing the modern-day mod scene with his book I'm One (21st Century Mods), Horst A. Friedrichs has jumped the fence to snap 'the other side' with Or Glory 21st Century Rockers, a new hardback book.

Released next week via Prestel Publishing (but available to pre-order now), the book looks to follow a similar path to the 'Mods' book, snapping those who take inspiration from the original rocker scene in the modern era – tattoos, leather jackets, slicked-back hair, BSA, Triumph, Norton and Royal Enfield motorcycles, not to mention inspiration from the likes of Elvis, James Dean, and Marlon Brando.
