Marimekko “Kippis” Wallpaper

Kiitosmarimekko_2146_234336269

The second wallpaper collection from Finnish design house Marimekko is full of their trademark bold colour and retro style.

Designed by Maija Louekar, Kippis (meaning "cheers") features abstract black and white line drawings of glasses and goblets with colourful accents in red, blue, pink, green and yellow. It would make a striking feature wall in a kitchen or lounge and is durable too – apparently extra-washable so able to withstand hard-partying friends or small sticky-fingered people, depending on your situation.

Kippis is available from Wallpaper Direct and costs £72.95 per roll.

Moomin Adventure Jar

Moomin
Moomin products are as popular now as they were when they were originally created in the 1950s, and whilst many fans of the originals have criticised the recent glut of products for being too commercial, some of the products retain the charm of the original illustrations.

A great example is the Moomin Adventure Jar, which features a Tove Jansson illustration from the 1954 book “Moominsummer Madness” from the Adventure series. The monochrome illustration shows Moomin with a house and forest scene in the background, which looks kind of spooky.

The jar measures 16cm high by 12cm diameter and costs just under £36 from SCP.

Kauniste 60s and 70s inspired tea towels

Kauniste

This charming tea towel design is taken from the first collection of Finnish company Kauniste

They've looked back to the 60s and 70s to gain inspiration for their designs, produced with the aim for them to be cherished and kept for the next fifty or so years. This Maatilda depicts a rural scene, while the range also includes a tea towel with a depiction of a well-packed kitchen shelf as well as a vegetable pattern that would fit in well with the Linea salad bowl featured yesterday. Each design is printed in bright colours onto a linen and cotton mix.

Each tea towel costs 17 euros.
