Reissues are incredibly high priced, so the ideal of an original 1940s Kaiser Idell 6561 desk lamp for next to nothing is appealing. Which is the case right now with this particular example.

John Lewis modernist-style Penelope Task Lamp
We've featured a few of the Kaiser idell modernist reissue lamps of late, but even the smallest of the range is a bit hefty in price. So thank goodness for the John Lewis Penelope Task Lamp.
66721-T Table Lamp by Kaiser idell
The Kaiser idell lighting range consists of floor, wall and table lamps and pendants, but one we’ve not mentioned here before is the 66721-T Table Lamp, the smallest table lamp in the series.
It was designed by Christian Dell in 1926 and like its bigger siblings is a classic of Bauhaus design – but in miniature. It is made from steel and brass with the patented swivel joint. It stands at 25.5cm tall and is available in black, ivory or white.
Sadly, the price is far from mini, with the lamps priced £332 from Ivor Innes.
Kaiser Idell 6556-super floor lamp
We've featured a Kaiser Idell table lamp before, but here's another imposing piece of twentieth century design, the 6556-super floor lamp.
Like the table lamp, it was designed by Christian Dell, an industrial designer at the Bauhaus and first produced back in the 1930s. It also shares that lamp's classic modernist good looks and is made from steel and brass. Take your pick from a black or white version.
The lamp costs £614.

John Lewis modernist-inspired Penelope task lamp
Ok, stick with me on this one. The Kaiser idell Table Lamp 6631 is an original Bauhaus design, recently reissued for the modern era and available to you for a hefty £601. if you want a similar look for a fraction of the price, check out the John Lewis Penelope task lamp.
It's new in at John Lewis and is incredibly like the Bauhaus original, perfect for adding some modernist style to your home for very little outlay. Available in cream or white, it has a a metal bowl shade and circular base, joined by a C-shaped stem. Love that vintage-style switch too.
All of that for just £40.
