Skandium crops up quite frequently on these pages as a seller of classic Scandinavian design. Well, as you know, that classic design usually comes with a significant price tag so bargain hunters should make sure they get down to the Skadium sale shop which started on Saturday and runs until 20 February.
The idea of the shop apparently sprang from when the owners of the store were offered Hans J Wegner furniture by Carl Hansen at reduced price. They've promised 50% to 80% off all stock which includes other Retro To Go favourites like Marimekko. Artek, Fritz Hansen and iittala.
The shop is based at 235 Brompton Road, London, just down the road from its South Kensington store. The building is a grade II listed Victorian former jewellers shop, so offers an unusual contrast to Skandium's usual aesthetic.

Something of a lost 1960s design has now been put back into production: the GJ chair was designed by Grete Jalk in 1963 but originally only 300 examples were produced due to its complex construction.
That production challenge has been taken on by Lange production who are using the same factory and tools to produce this reissue of the moulded plywood chair that were used for the original. They're also reproducing a set of nesting table by the Danish designer.
As you might have guessed, the price tag attached to the design is hefty. But the slightly good news is that it's been reduced in the sale from £2350 to £1997.50.

A 1950s design that still looks as appealing today, that's the Accent sofa by Swedese.
The sofa was designed in 1959 by Yngve Ekström, who was the founder of Swedese and looks very much of its time. The clean lines of its upholstery are supported by a solid oak frame and legs. It's available in a variety of finishes – it's shown here in white leather which certainly enhances its classic looks.
As you might expect, the sofa has something of an 'investment' price tag attached – in this case the sofa costs £3035.
