Remember the chicken brick? It was the product that brought Habitat’s concept of 70s stylish living into the home of the common man.
I’m not sure that it quite has the sophistication ot impress the neighbours these days, but you can still buy these unglazed clay cooking pots, now known as the Cassia Clay.
The concept is much the same. Stick in your chicken (or other food) into the Cassia Clay, throw it into the oven and the food cooks naturally in its own juices within the sealed pot. The downfall of the original brick was the difficulty to clean – the manufacturers of this one claim this is no longer a problem. We’ll need some convincing of that.
