Looking for some cool new art? Might be worth browsing what’s up for auction in the Christies’ Modern Prints auction, which takes place on 27th September at the South Kensington site. "Modern" might not be the right term – it refers to the modern era, which is – more or less – anything from the last 50 years.
Modern prints are also a decent investment – affordable, but in limited runs that will only gain in value as the years progress. Unlikely to lose value too. The auction is a who’s who of modern artists, including the likes of (in no particular order) Victor Vasarely, Peter Blake, Andy Warhol, Patrick Caulfield, Eduardo Paolozzi and Roy Lichtenstein.
However, my favourite doesn’t actually come with a big-name artist’s tag. It’s this lithograph celebrating 50 years of Bauhaus from an exhibition in Stuttgart in 1968. Seems good value at between £200-£300.
