The Magazine Rack by Giotto Stoppino was (and is) a combination of clever design, coupled with advances in technology.
The technology was plastic, with the rack a great example of a simple, durable and cost effective design that benefitted from Kartell’s use of new plastics, like polypropylene. The design is still contemporary today, with two pockets bridged by two higher standing central pockets, with plenty of room for storage, and plenty of space to show off your trendy design magazines. There’s also a central handle to carry it around.
The rack went into production in 1971 – 35 years later, with slight modifications and changes in colour, it’s still available. Silver and transparent finishes were introduced in 2000 and are available to buy today, priced around £75.
