Retro Retreat: Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton

I’m not sure if you’d class the Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton as retro or themed? Probably both, but its 19 rooms, all based around pop subculture or dressed by maverick artists, certainly have strong retro themes throughout.

The obvious retro rooms include Moderophenia (you guessed it, a mod-themed room), Pressure Sounds (reggae -themed), Sputnik (space age) and Betty’s Boudoir (50s pin-up) – but my favourite is Rough Trade Rough Nite – inspired by London’s Rough Trade shop with posters covering the walls and a record deck in the room, not to mention a pile of vinyl to play.

Room rates vary, but the Rough Trade room is £55 (Sun-Thurs) and £65 (Fri/Sat and bank holidays).
