vNes – play old Nintendo games online

I’ll not bore you about how old console games have more playability than today’s titles, but well, they do. And if you want any proof, try vNES – an online archive of playable Nintendo NES titles.

The legality of the site is very dubious, so if you like your vintage gaming, enjoy it while it lasts (or until Nintendo get wind of it). There’s around 400 Nintendo titles on here from all over the globe. Just log onto the site, choose your game and away you go.

I couldn’t get it to work on the Mac, but I was well into Mario 3 on the PC without any hitches. Just don’t let the boss catch you.

    I got this working on my Mac no problem using Safari on Mac OS X 10.4.8 and the current version of Java (run software update, it should be there).
