Sometimes you genuinely believe design has stood still – or perhaps it just reached its peak sometime in the mid-20th century. Especially when you see lighting like the Sky Flyer by Finnish designer Yki Nummi, which was designed around 50 years ago.
The Sky Flyer is one of his most famous designs, still attention-grabbing today with its strange-shaped white acrylic shade, with steel support and chain. Not the cheapest piece of lighting you’ll see, but at 395 Euros (around £264) it’s still an affordable design classic – and a talking point everytime someone comes round.
