BT Tower (formerly Post Office Tower) set to become a hotel

I don’t know how we missed this, but according to a recent report in The Times, that icon of swinging London, the BT Tower (formerly Post Office Tower) could be set for a new lease of life – as a boutique hotel.

The Times quotes the Estates Gazette, stating that BT has appointed a team of designers to draft ideas for the base of the grade II listed building, possibly expanding it to a six or seven-story hotel. And best of all, re-opening the revolving restaurant on the 34th floor to the public. The restaurant was originally run by Butlins – I suspect something more upmarket this time.

What will become of the rest of the tower (currently used by BT for administration) isn’t clear. More on this when we have it.
