If I had any power, I would slap preservation orders on all of the mid-century homes scattered around the UK – to stop developers ripping them apart of even worse, knocking them down. Sadly, I don’t have that influence, so I’ll just continue to highlight the houses here when they come onto the market – including this 1960s-designed single-story house in Ramsbury, Wiltshire.
It’s a three/four-bedroom L-shaped property designed by Martin Sylvester in 1969, still packing some unique period features, including a copper fireplace, Swedish door furniture, brick detailing, wood panelling and some interesting lighting (although the bathrooms and kitchen have been modernised).
Worryingly, it also comes with planning permission to carry out additional works. Don’t let it happen – although to stop it, you’ll need to find something in the region of £725,000.
