It's the movie that scared me more than any other as a small child (when it got a rare showing on late night TV). Now Stephen Weeks' Ghost Story has been issued on DVD for the first time.
Made back in 1974, it's anything but a typical 1970s horror, more of an M.R James-inspired tale of ghostly goings on – in this case, a tale of three schoolfriends in a large house in 1920s England. At least it is for two of them, one is taking back in time by a doll to experience the horror of a generation before, centred around the plight of a young girl, played by Marianne Faithfull.
