Another musical anniversary commemorated with a photography exhibition although this time, the band in question are still going. The Rolling Stones: 50 at Somerset House coincides with their first gig at the Marquee Club in London on 12 July 1962.
The free exhibition will include over seventy prints including reportage photography, live concert and studio session images, contact sheets, negatives and outtakes charting their rise form playing small blues clubs to huge stadiums. The exhibition will cover every period in the band’s history, although personally (and I suspect I’m not alone in this) I’ll be more interested in the early period stuff. A book of the same name will released at the same time and will be available to buy at the exhibition along with limited edition prints. The exhibition runs from 13 July to 27 August.
