The word “Love” pops up time and again in retro style artworks and here is Dandy Star’s interpretation, the Love Rainbow Print.

The pop art style design is decorated with a brightly coloured rainbow pattern set against a grey background. It has been printed by hand and is sold framed in a white metal frame.

It is available to buy online from SCP for the rather random price of £240.01.

Comback Chair by Patricia Urquiola for Kartell

UT30030
Going further back than is usual for our design influences, the Comback Chair by Patricia Urquiola for Kartell looks back to the classic 18th Century Windsor chair design.

The backrest of the chair is made up of seven teeth, which are spaced out to be ergonomically correct. Deviating from the classic form, the chair is made from plastic, in a range of colours, including the interesting options of orange and mustard.

The chair is not in production yet, so no price details are available at the moment (I doubt it will be cheap ), but you can register your interest now with Utility Design so that you don’t miss out when it is available.

Porada Empire Sideboard

Porada_empire-walnut_425a
We haven’t featured a sideboard for a couple of weeks, so what about the Porada Empire Sideboard?

Porada’s designs are rooted in the Italian artisan tradition, but mixing wood with more modern materials. The Empire Sideboard gives a nod to retro styles with the concave feature on its doors and the colour of the doors (walnut as pictured here, or a more space-age looking white glass option), but it is updated with the mirrored frame.

Prices start from £3,444 for the walnut version, with the white gloss version costing just over £3,700. Buy online from Mac & Mac Interiors

Mad Men: The Illustrated World

513gKpgjnNL__SL500_AA300_
One of my favourite television shows of recent years and undoubtedly a huge influence on women’s fashion, I think we can expect to see more and more Mad Men inspired products. Mad Men: The Illustrated World, at least, is officially endorsed and retains the wit, charm and style of the programme.

Illustrator Dyna Moe illustrates the world of 1960s Madison Avenue and adds a good deal of humour. There are cocktail recipes from Sally Draper, tips for aging philanderers on hotel liaisons and instructions for recreating hairdos of the period.

The book is released on 25 November, but you can order it now from Amazon for the reduced price of £6.49.

My Robot Family Prints

Product-29935-1_full
It would seem that printmaker, Velvetimages, like retro robots just as much as we do, judging by their series of My Robot Family Prints.

Vintage tin robots have been photographed, either on their own or in groups, in the TTV style, which further adds to their retro charm. For the uninitiated TTV stands for Through the Viewfinder and is a style of photography where photographs are taken on a digital camera, but looking through an old-fashioned camera. The prints cost £30 for 8 x 8 size or £45 for 12 x12 size.

Jonathan Adler’s Peter Rug

354
This midcentury looking rug is Jonathan Adler’s Peter Rug.

I’m not sure who it is named after and I think it “Peter” may be the name of the pattern, which appears on other Jonathan Adler products too, rather than the name of rug itself.

The retro influenced pattern consists of brown squares containing smaller red squares. The rug measures 4ft by 6ft and is handmade from llama wool. It costs $600 (around £400) from The Fusion Company.
