Next retro rug

Next rug

From cushions to table waresNext seem to be really playing up the retro influences with their Spring collection. The latest addition is this retro rug, featuring an abstract pattern in interlocking shapes. The green, grey and yellow colour scheme would work really well in relation to the other products we've featured or, if you want a more dramatic look, it also comes in red.

The down side is that it isn't made from wool, instead made from lookalike acrylic. However, this is reflected in the price which is a bit more affordable than some of the rugs we feature, ranging from £50 to £199 depending on size. The pattern is also available on a runner with prices starting at £50.

Lulabird clocks

Lula Whale_clock2

Looking for some bright, quirky and, of course, retro artwork for a kids room? Take a look at the range from Lulabird, a company created by a couple of mothers who found themselves asking the same question.

In answer, they produce plywood wall art and clocks, featuring owls and flowers and whales, all in the same idiosyncratic style as the image shown above. The numbers on the clocks are all deliberately simple to read and so should help with the tricky business of telling the time.

The pieces range in price but, to give you an idea, the whale wall clock pictured is £30.

Retro storage trunks from Rose and Grey

R&G Storage-Trunks

After years of hoarding stuff, it's always nice to find something that'll help make tidying up just that little easier. One stylish solution is these retro storage trunks available from Rose and Grey

The metal trunks are made by Danish company House Doctor and have a great 1950s look, right down to the fastenings and the label. They're only available as a set of two and in the colour combination of a bright red and the faded green shown. To give you an idea of the size, the green measures about 60cm across, while the red measures 69cm across – both are definitely designed for display.

The set of trunks costs £245.

Wesco Classic – retro stovetop kettle

Wesco

Wesco does a nice line in retro-style accessories for your kitchen, with the Wesco Classic up there with the best of them.

It's a stovetop kettle, which means you sacrifice functionality for style. But if you have got time to let your water heat on the cooker (and it works on all hobs, including induction), the Wesco Classic does a good job of looking sharp even when you don't need a brew.

Made of coated stainless steel, with some chrome-like features, a chunky handle and an easy-opening mechanism, you can pick one up in various colours for £39. See over the page for another colour option.
