Michelle Mason Seville Cushions

Seville_cushionA far cry from the Mellow Yellow favoured by Donovan, this cushion is an arrested medley bright yellow (with a few other colours thrown in for good measure).

The Seville Cushion by Michelle Mason is an eye-catching piece that is typical of the designer’s retro-influenced works, which also includes lampshades and teatowels.  The cushion uses unbleached cotton so is kind to the environment.

It can be bought online via Not on the High Street or visit Michelle Mason’s website for a list of other stockists.

Paper Doll melamine plate set

Paperdolls

We love the vintage cartoon designs on this Paper Doll melamine plate set.

Those designs are the work of Charles S. Anderson, printed onto heavy-duty 10-inch melamine plastic plates. The plates are made by the same company that manufactures plates for the US military (without these prints obviously), so you can be assured that they can withstand serious wear.

Available in limited quantities, you can buy a set for $40, which is around £20.

Kaleidescope Shower Curtain

ShowercurtainFollowing on from the Arcana Soap, let’s stay in the bathroom and draw your attention to the Kaleidescope Shower Curtain.

It can be difficult to maintain that retro vibe in your bathroom without veering into kitsch or tacky, so its been a while since we’ve featured a shower curtain but this shower one is pretty stylish (as shower curtains go, that is).

The op art black and white design is nicely finished off with an equally retro orange band across the bottom of the curtain.

It costs $33 (approximately £17) from Sprouthome.

Frederic Collette A table and chairs – art deco design for kids

Achair

The rooms that are often ignored when it comes to design are the children’s bedrooms. Which is a shame when there is cool design likes the Frederic Collette A table and chairs around.

Designed by Collette and produced by Collect Furniture, the A table and chairs are intended to be functional furniture for children, but with an art deco look that’s certain to appeal to design-conscious parents. Practical too – the ‘A’ shape increases stability, preventing it from being tilted or tipped over, with the table featuring six drawers and room for two children to work at (either side) and of course, built to a perfect height for the stackable chairs (which also feature a drawer).

The table retails for £205, with the chairs retailing at £105 each.

Lazy Susan Table

LazysusanAlongside a fondue set, a Lazy Susan was a dinner party essential back in the 1970s. The original Lazy Susan was a rotating serving tray, but Home Temptations have bettered that with the Lazy Susan Table.

The revolving section is a permanent part of the table, rather than just something to get out on a special occasion. The table comes as a set with four chairs, two each of black and white which look quite nice too.

The set costs £620 from the Home Temptations website
