Aertex Gold range – tops inspired by World Cup shirts of the 60s and 70s

Aer1

Heritage brand Aertex has gone back to its past for the new Aertex Gold range, which is inspired by World Cups of the 60s and early 70s.

Indeed, Aertex was worn by the England squad in 1970s, so the company can legitimately claim a connection. These aren't replica pieces though. Instead, it's a range of 11 designs inspired by shirts worn in the 40 or so years back, made in a modern breathable 'Aertex Fabric', with styles ranging from crew necks to polo shirts in various colours.

Expect to pay between £25 and £30, with the shirts hitting stores (and Aertex Online) in April. More images over the page.

If you can get to Wembley this Saturday (6th February 2010), you might want to do just that – for the Angels Retro Sale.

A massive 25,000 items will be cleared out, with that stock dating from the 1950s to the 1990s, along with uniform items in a separate room at knockdown prices. Everything in the sale is 'good quality' and much of it has featured in screen or stage productions over the past 50 years. Doors open at 8.30am and the address is 7 Courtenay Road, Wembley, United Kingdom, HA9 7ND. For an idea of what to expect, check out the video below.

Puma G Vilas 2 trainers reissued

Vilas1

I'm guessing only seasoned tennis fans remember Argentinian player Guillermo Apolinario Vilas, but this star of the 70s and early 80s did leave behind a legacy oh hip footwear, including the Puma Guillermo Vilas trainers from the late 70s and the newly-reissued Puma G Vilas 2 trainers.

The latter dates from the early 80s, the tennis shoe quickly becoming a terrace favourite with its more slimline profile (compared to version one), a mix of suede and leather for the upper, gold branding, one piece label and lace guard and perforated toe box.

A limited edition, you can pick up a pair in navy of green for £55. See over the page for another angle shot.

Fred Perry Tournament Edition World Cup 2010 polo shirts

Tourno1

We mentioned these at our Modculture site last year, when they were just possibles for market, but now we've had conformation that the Fred Perry Tournament Edition World Cup 2010 polo shirts are going into production – and soon.

The shirts will feature 12 of the nations who have qualified for this year's finals, all in the colours of the nation, although the England one is in '66 red (so it doesn't get mixed up with Germany I presume). Detailing is also in line with the country's football colours, the badge having the name of said country under the Laurel logo. A nice twist on the classic shirt which, I suspect is going to fly off the shelves as summer arrives. Certainly better than the current generation of replica tops.

The countries featured are Brazil, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Italy, Japan, Slovenia, South Korea and Spain – Japan and Sweden are pictured above, with England, Brazil, Italy and Spain over the page. Look out for them in Fred Perry stores from May, price still to be confirmed.

1970s Adidas Greenstar trainers get one-colour reissue

Green1

We featured one reissue last year, but now the Adidas Greenstar has been reissued once more, in this rather fetching one-colour finish.

Take your pick from blue (pictured here) or green (over the page), both with a profile faithful to the original 1970 issue (and latter-day terrace favourite), complete with thick cut suede finish, gum sole and your colour of choice for the body, tongue, branding – even the laces.

£54.99 secures you a pair.
