Style Me Vintage: Make-Up

Style me vintage makeup

If you loved last year's Style Me Vintage: Hairstyles by Belinda Hay, chances are this new companion book Style Me Vintage: Make-Up will also be on your wish list.

It's been written by Katie Reynolds, founder of the Powder Puff Girls (whose Powder Room we also featured last year), and a specialist in recreating retro glamour. The book gives you step-by-step instructions on how to use your cosmetics to replicate various different looks dating from the 1920s, right up to the 1980s. As with the other title, the book uses vintage fabrics and patterns alongside the instructions to create an attractive looking book.

And at an amazing price too. The book is currently costs £6.29 from Amazon

Tattoo Logo Make-up Bags by Kate Garey

Kategarey

When it comes to the more functional items in life, like luggage and cosmetics cases, it can be tempting to opt for the sturdy but unstylish for the sake of ease. There’s no excuse not to indulge in something more chic, however, with affordably priced gems like these Tattoo Make-Up Bags by British designer Kate Garey.

Small but sufficiently roomy, both bags take inspiration from a kitschy 50s pin-up style, with the tattoo inspired embroidery providing an instantly cute retro feel. With each backed by a fifties style print, too, the bags make a stylish little addition to any handbag or travel set.

They’re available now from Dollydagger, sold separately at £14.99 each. For a limited time, however, the Mermaid version is on sale at £6.

No7 75th Anniversary Decades Make-up Collection

No7
To celebrate 75 years of their No7 make-up range, Boots has introduced the limited edition No7 Decades Collection.

The collection takes inspiration from the key looks of the past seven decades and consists of a trio of eye shadows, lipgloss and nail polish so you can recreate the make-up style of that era. The eyeshadows include a set of white/grey/black called Swinging Sixties to recreate dramatic smoky eyes of that period and Electric 80s, a trio of bright colours. The nail polishes are named after key fashion items of the decade (Bobby Socks for the 50s, maxi dress for the 70s) and the lipglosses are named after style icons of the era (Judy, Marilyn, Dusty, Bianca, Joan, Jennifer and Agyness).

Lipglosses and nail polishes cost £6.75 whilst the eye shadows cost £9.25. Visit the Boots website to buy.
