i drawers by Melia

Lunadrawers

Despite the rather modern product name, the i drawers have a decidedly retro look, combining space-age curved lines with a glossy finish.  They are suitable for use in the bedroom in place of a tradional chest of drawers or as an alternative to a sideboard in your lounge.

Created by Melia, whose similarly styled coffee tables we’ve highlighted in the past, the i drawers come in a choice of colours and finishes to meet your needs. Choose from laminate in colours including black, white, red, and wood finishes for £2895, or upgrade to the luxury high gloss laminate version for £4595.

Visit the Melia website to view all of the options.

Vintage Bedspreads

Retrobedspread

If you want genuine retro bedlinen rather than the vaguely retro inspired offering from the mainstream stores, then vintage is the only answer (assuming you aren’t put off by its second-hand nature).

Taking the hassle out of trawling charity shops, H is for Home currently has a small selection of vintage bedspreads. Dating from the 1960s and 1970s, they feature floral and op-art patterns in colours that are typical of that time. Prices range from £22 to £40.

Vintage Wallpaper Jewellery

Wallpapernecklace

Who would have thought that vintage wallpaper could be so versatile? Italian designer Drawflowers has come up with a number of use, besides the obvious one of putting it on your wall. Alongside wallpaper covered bags and notebooks, they have made some beautiful Vintage Wallpaper Jewellery.

Taking authentic 1970s vinyl wallpaper, Drawflowers has created distinctive necklaces, earrings and badges. The necklaces cost $18 (approximately £10) and the earrings and badges are under $5, which isn’t bad for something unique.

Visit the Drawflowers store to see the full range.

“Jet Set” Storage Bench

15518848_80_b

The ottoman is definitely back! This is the second one we’ve featured recently, which surely must count as a trend.

Confusingly named the Jet Set Storage Bench, it isn’t in a space-age style, but it certainly harks back to other mid-century trends. Upholstered in orange vintage-style tweed, it costs $240.

It is available to buy online from Urban Outfitters in the USA, sadly only to customers over there.

Swiss Desk Station Model M29 Telephone

1220

The phone everyone is talking about this month is undoubtedly the Colombo phone, but if you don’t manage to get hold of one then perhaps you can be consoled with this Swiss Desk Station Model M29 Telephone.

It is a reconditioned phone based on a vintages Bundespost design.  It is available in a sleek black finish and has a distinctive high cradle that gives it an elegant look.

It costs rather more than the Colombo phone, priced at £215 from Design Shop UK.

Ruspa Table Lamp

Ruspa
The Ruspa Table Lamp was designed by the Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti for the company Martinelli Luce in 1968.

Best known for her work on large-scale museum projects, including Musée d’Orsay in Paris and the Contemporary Art Gallery at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Aulenti also turned her hand to interior design. Perhaps this heritage goes someway to explaining the price of the Ruspa Lamp (I did a double-take when I first read it myself), which is currently on sale for £2796.95.

I suspect this won’t be a realistic purchase for most of us, but if you do have the money and want a classic table lamp, it can be ordered online from Made in Design.
