Bruno Munari 1960s Cubovo trolley reissued

Cubovo

It might look like a cut-down Boby trolley, but the Bruno Munari Cubovo trolley actually pre-dates the Jo Colombo effort by a good eight years.

This 1962 design is made from lacquered wood and glass in a variety of bright colours (or a simple white), all with wheels for moving around and good for just about any storage use you can think of.

Porro has just reissued this design classic, but for a price – £1,379 to be precise.

Levi’s Vintage 1936 Type One jacket

Levi_1936

True vintage fashion, replicated in every detail – the Levi’s Vintage 1936 Type One jacket.

This is an exact copy of a 1936 Levi’s design, based on an extremely rare design picked up by a Japanese collector recently. For much less than he paid, you get a fairly short wool-lined jacket with narrow collar, button-fastening chest pocket, double-pleat detailing and some waist darts and buckle at the rear.

Available now for £169.99.

Sergio Mazzer Alfa table lamp

Mazzer

It might have the art deco looks, but the Alfa table lamp by Sergio Mazzer actually dates back to the late 50s.

1959 to be precise, the first lamp put into production by Artemide and back in production by that same company today. For the not inconsiderable price, you get a black marble base, a metal stem in opaque nickel plate, crystal glass diffuser and the knowledge that the whole thing is hand-finished and a slice of design history.

Available online, you can pick one up for £341.

Wesco R2-D2 projection alarm clock

R2d2_projection_clock

More Star Wars stuff? Certainly is – and what must be the 10th R2-D2 tie-in this year. Saying that, we really can’t resist the R2-D2 projection alarm clock.

Stick it by our bed and the droid will project the time onto the nearest wall (ideally a plain one), with a smaller digital reader out on the body. What else you get for your money isn’t really clear – I suspect an alarm, but there’s also mention of ‘R2-D2 sounds’, music and worryingly ‘scent’.

Saying that, it’s not going to cost much to find out what you get – it goes on sale from September for just £19.99.

Zanotta space age Brasilia lounge chair

Brasilia

A space age chair suitably named after a futuristic city – the Zanotta Brasilia lounge chair.

The looks are pure 1970s (think Space 1999 or UFO), but the design is actually fairly modern, the work of Ross Lovegrove in 2003. It’s moulded in hard polyurethane and finished with embossed scratch-resistant paint, the choice of which is up to you (although white and orange keep that retro vibe strong).

The only downside if this award-winning chair is the price tag of £1,773 – and that doesn’t include the footstool.
