Ikea’s 50s-inspired Karlstad sofa adds a bed and storage

Karlstad_new

Remember the Ikea Karlstad Sofa? We featured it some months back on the back of it being inspired by the classic Florence Knoll sofa from 1954. Well, now it’s back – offering just a little bit more for your money.

The new version comes in black, white and brown leather, offering room for three people and a sofa bed for one or two, as well as storage underneath for pillow and quilts or all those magazines cluttering up the room. And unlike most sofa beds, it’s not an eye sore when you don’t need the extra sleeping space.

You can pick one up now for £999.

Newgate 60s-style Bubble wall clock

Newgate_bubble

Newgate
can always be relied upon to knock out retro styled clocks, with the Bubble wall clock the latest addition to the range.

No prizes for guessing why the clock os so called – that bulbous acrylic front sticks out in more ways than one. Aside from that, there’s a solid back, retro-styled paper dial, metal hands and a choice of black or cream for the finish.

Battery-powered, it sells for £45.

The days are getting shorter and the weather will start to get colder. So perhaps a good time to invest in one of these dhb retro wool cycling tops.

The tops are hand made in Belgium, made of ‘wool-acryl’ and feature four classic designs – Molteni (two versions of the team shirt worn by the legendary Eddy Merckx), Faema (from the period 1955 – 1970) and Solo-Superia (60s team led by the legendary Belgian rider Rik van Looy).

All are in stock or arriving in the next couple of weeks, priced at £71.99.

Enzo Berti 70s-style Kata hanging chair

Kata

A chair with a famous heritage (of sorts) and with roots in the early 70s – the Enzo Berti Kata hanging chair.

Apparently it is based on a chair seen by Berti in Ringo Starr’s house in the early 1970s. Which all sounds very ‘showbiz’ until you find out that the designer was there as a taxi driver at the time rather than a house guest.

The chair itself has a rattan frame (natural or varnished), with removable foam cushions and a chrome base. £2,756 will get one into your home.
