Russel Wright 1930s Roly Poly Cart

Rolypoly

A design classic that's been remade for the modern era – the Russel Wright Roly Poly Cart.

Wright originally designed the trolley back in 1936, originally in bamboo and wood and designed to serve drinks outdoors on warm summer days. Today's version is a much more sturdy affair, made from fabricated aluminium with custom-spun hubcaps, hard rubber tyres and vinyl inserts you can change with the season.

A stylish art deco design that you can buy again, courtesy of HK Designs. The only thing we don't know is the price – as it's a custom build, you'll have to drop the company a line for an estimate. We suspect that means it isn't cheap.

Eileen Gray modernist day bed

Grey_day

Another modernist classic from the workshops of ClassiCon – the Eileen Gray day bed.

It's been around since 1925, designed for a day of laziness for the affluent of the era – and still remaining a stylish and functional item for the hip and cool of 2009. For your (not inconsiderable) money, you get a base of chromium-plated steel tubing, a beechwood frame with rubber webbing and a loose mattress with Bonell-spring interior, covered in a choice of fabric or leather.

Prices start at £3,800.

Aimee Wilder Analog Nights retro wallpaper

Analog

Looking for something just a little bit different for your walls? You need the Aimee Wilder Analog Nights wallpaper.

It's a tribute to classic technology, with retro favourites like the record deck, ghetto blaster, cassette and reel-to-reel tape player, available in a choice of chocolate or metallic colour scheme.

The only downside is the price – $150 per roll, which is around £110 with the current exchange rate. Maybe go for just enough for a feature wall.

Nymphenburg coat stand by Otto Blümel

Nymphen

Not just retro, but positively antique – yet the Nymphenburg coat stand by Otto Blümel still looks  like a stylish modern design.

An early modernist gem, the Nymphenburg coat stand is amazingly over 100 years old, designed by Blümel back in 1908. And now it's back on the market, courtesy of ClassiCon.

In terms of technical details, what you see is what you get, with plenty of hooks for your hats and coats, all from a stand made of nickel-plated brass. You can pick one up for around £1,600.
