B&Q’s modernist Geneva lamp

Bq_geneva

We’ve featured a few things from B&Q of late, but that’d for one simple reason – the store has really gone big on retro this season. And that includes this B&Q Geneva table lamp.

It’s obviously screaming modernism and should be perfect if you’re trying to create a 20s or 30s vibe on your home, The stem and stand are chrome, while the shade is described as ‘chrome glass’, which means a metallic finish to a rippled glass shade.

You can pick it up now, priced at £39.98.

Poufman – Pac-Man seating for your home

Poufman

Seating really doesn’t get much quirkier than Poufman from Qayot.

Yes, this is Pac-Man seating, the actual seat eating the square stool in just about any colour combination you require. Each unit has wooden support and  polyurethane padding, covered by a fabric and polyester cover that’s both stain-resistant and removable.

In fact, the only thing the detailed website doesn’t tell us is the price – apparently that’s ‘on request’.

B&Q’s mid-century Audrey String table lamp

Audrey

Not (as you might think), a classic piece from the late 50s or early 60s, this is the Audrey String table lamp, available from your local B&Q.

But to the untrained eye, this could easily pass as a typical piece of mid-century design. Those tripod-like legs hold a lamp crafted from mild steel and string, with a contrasting inner and outer colour of light and dark brown. And you can even fit an energy-saving bulb in it.

But best of all, this is B&Q, so it’s cheap – £39.98 to be precise.

Zanotta 1940s Reale dining table

Reale

A design that’s still catching the eye over 40 years since its launch – the Zanotta Reale dining table.

It was designed by Carlo Mollino back in 1946, an interesting shape and from a distance, not unlike your average DIY workbench. But look closely and you’ll appreciate the attention to detail that’s gone into that wooden frame, far in excess of what’s required to support the bevel-edged 15mm plate glass top.

Take your pick from a number of wood finishes and four sizes, priced at £2,370.
